Ok so 5 am this morning i'm leaving a friend's house and I go to pull the light **** and turn the lights on and I end up pulling off the **** of the wiper switch. Well after driving home half assleep with wiper fluid all over my windows from tryign to push the **** back on but just spraying fluid everywhere I gave up. I tried to get it on this morning, but it's just not going back on. It's came off before and I just pushed it right back on and fit the groove. But thid time I push it on and it doesn't hook on for me to be able to use my wipers. I can't drive w/o windshield wipers, if it rains i'm screwed. What am I doing wrong with putting it in?

There is a little clip on the back of the **** that you might have to press with a screwdriver if it doesn't go back on easily by itself. Make sure you are getting it lined up right, there's only one way for it to go on. That's about all there is to it, just keep working at it and it should go back on. Push it till it bottoms on the shaft. Do that with the key off so you don't spray out all the washer fluid. A friend of mine did that to my truck, and it went right back on once I figured out how. The spring clip may have come out of the **** too, check for that. If it did, take the spring clip off the shaft, stick it back in the **** and then put the **** back on the shaft.

The clip has a ring that's supposed to wrap around the switch stalk and bind on it by tilting. If that ring is lying close to flat against the back of the ****, it won't grab the shaft. Bend it outward so it's 30-45° out of parallel with the back of the ****, then work it back onto the shaft.
