Need old autolock hubs / *****

If anyone has upgraded their old autlocking hubs to Warn, Mile Marker, or other manuals, I NEED YOUR OLD AUTO LOCK HUBS for the ***** !! One of my ***** has a chunck broken out of the center (which I can probably fix), and the other's retaining tabs are broken (much bigger problem).

The good news is that I figured out how to get the ***** off and on , so if I can get a couple of intact ones I can fix my hubs. Even if the center bar is broken, I mainly just need a **** with the retaining tabs intact.

As far as getting the selector **** off (if anyone's curious) it's not bad. If your **** doesn't already have a hole in it (like the center bar broke), you can just drill a hole in the face of the **** near the center, big enough to get a screwdriver or some other small rod in to push down on the plastic cream-colored disc below the ****. The hole will need to be sealed up somehow, so make it as small as possible to get something through it (an awl or really small Phillips might do well).

Having the gears and springs out of the inside of the hub lock is really helpful so there's no spring pressure pushing the disc inside up against you, just the rubber diaphragm. Turn the **** to the "lock" position, then press the plastic disc under the **** down with the screwdriver or something (through the hole in the **** -- I did it by holding down on the screwdriver with my chin so my hands were free). Pressing the disc down, the **** will turn one short click further, clockwise. This gets it disengaged from the plastic disc below it and you can pull the **** out (took some tugging -- the o-ring around it's the only thing holding it in.)

I'm assuming the **** is ABS plastic and plan to make a paste of ABS plastic shavings dissolved in MEK to patch it up (usually works fine, the thicker the better -- less shrinkage as it dries, and dries solid faster)

Hope this helps, and that someone can help me too with a descent hub lock / **** or two. Let me know what you want for it. Thanks!

Also thanks to Guzzle for the info that inspired me to figure it out!

Ken

Not sure if this helps but I've replaced both fronts over the years, the shoppe that did the work kept the old hubs. Might be worth calling some repair shoppes to see what they have laying around. Good luck!
