Purchasing Advise

I am in the market for a Super Duty Ford for work and am wanting opinions on the best year to purchase used. I have heard that there are some problems with a few of the model years. Can anyone provide some insight???

Thanks in advance.

How recent do you want to go?

I would do a 2007 6.0 still under factory warranty PROVIDING it never used a tuner / modded.

I would extend the warranty to 200,000k if you are leery, but only with premium Ford factory warranty.

OASIS report, proof of proper maintenance, etc.

Don't expect to get this too cheap --- I bet you it will be more expensive than a comparable 2008 6.4.

I vote for any year involving the 7.3.. Solid, sound, reliable engine!

depends on how you are going to use the truck as well. If it is alot of stop and go city driving then maybe a gas motor, 5.4 would do just fine.

towing and city driving then maybe V10.

Hwy driving, heavy hauling then you should consider the diesels. A 05 and up 6.0 should be fine.

I have the 6.4 and love it. But the 6.4 does come with conditions more so than a 6.0. Increased maintance and it is a truely hwy motor. The emissions on it make it a little unfriendly for a bunch of day in and out city use. You can drive it in the city but on the hwy is where it performs and gives you the biggest smile.

So how do you plan to use the truck?
