08 F250 - latest firmware

I've had the truck now for about a month and so far everything is good. I've read alot on the forums concerning different firmware, etc. Is there anyway to tell which firmware my truck is running? If I'm not running the latest firmware, should I have the truck flashed with the latest?

I'm sure the Ford dealer will read and reflash, but will they charge an arm and a leg?

Thanks

There isn't any easy way to tell what version you have without a scanner.

If the dealer is decent they may do the update for free, if not it's only 1/2 hour book time which shouldn't cost more than $50 or so anyway.

You certainly want to be at the latest flash, especially if it's possible you still have the original one since the newer versions have added better diagnostics and fault detection.

One obvious difference with the latest firmware on my truck is that the regen message on the dash only comes on for a few seconds. With the previous version, it would stay on throughout the whole regen process (10-20 min or so).

That's been the case for a number of firmware versions, so it only indicates that a '08 truck has been updated at some point since new, but it could still be far behind the current version.
