I don't think you can do the grill without changing the front mount panel and if you do that you don't have to mod the stock mount panel to install lights. I am thinking about installing H/D lights but not sure on the if I like how it mounts after mod. I wish I havd some pics of install before buying so I hope you get some hits on tread.
anyone with a sliver truck done the Harley light conversion? if so pics please!! also can you cut the Harley grill to fit our trucks?
Yes, you can cut the grill. I would not. I went and changed all the first time around except the header panel, bumper too... Layson has a picture of me cutting the header panel for the HD Lights. After a slight mishap a year+ ago I changed all the parts again along with the header panel. Much easier install. All my parts are OEM from Ed. He does have the parts list, I might also somewhere on this computer.
My truck is also silver and like you I was considering the harley lights but I decided against it becacause IMO they would not like look right on the silver truck w/ the billet grill and chrome bumper. But it is your truck, you have to ultimately decide as you look at every day.
I am very satified from with the standard '05 lights I got from Clay. Looks and works great.
Where did you get that geat looking bumper or is it a fascia over an '05 bumper?
Its a Xenon Front Bumper Cover - 12251. It goes directly over the '05 bumper. They are usually about $400-$500 + shipping. I got a really great deal on eBay, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it. I really like they way it looks. The '05-'07 Front end + the Xenon bumper cover completely changes the way the truck looks from the stock '99 XL front I had.
Chris your truck looks awesome! It seems like you where debating on selling it previously, did you decide to keep it?
OP I will post some pics of Harley lights in a few minutes
I was going to sell it. I got a job at an asphalt plant a few months ago and its about a 100 mile commute. I just couldn't afford the fuel. I was going to sell the truck and buy something like a Pruis. Thankfully before I actually sold it ( I was really close) a buddy of mine started working at my plant and he lives further than I do. So we take his Honda (better MPGs) and split the gas. I'm really happy how that worked out.
Canister, I put the 2010 tailgate & clear LED tail light's on mine. The new tailgate is so easy to close with that torsion rod in there.
PS: glad you did not sell it.
