I just got the latest flash from the dealer last week. Can somebody tell me some of the things that it has programmed in it? Truck is a 2005 C/C FX4 6.0 with 80,000 miles. Had the flash done under warranty because the truck had a slight problem with the idle "hunting" up and down 1-300 rpm when truck was first started for the day in the cold. All is good now but with all the knowledge on this site I would like to know more about the new flash. Thanks.

Here is the text from TSB 9-24-3 (new flash), and what affects your '05 F series.
* False DTC P0470 - Exhaust pressure sensor A circuit fault due to a freezing condition.
* False DTC P0404 - Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) performance due to a stuck turbocharger condition.
* Cooling loss protection - Revised engine protection strategy when an engine over-temperature condition is present. Vehicles updated with this service calibration will display higher temperature gauge readings when high engine oil temperature (EOT) conditions or high engine coolant temperature (ECT) are encountered and may disable EGR operation to prevent possible EGR cooler damage.
* Oil cooler efficiency monitor - DTC P012F stored and wrench warning lamp illuminated when the oil coolers efficiency drops below a specified threshold for a given speed and vehicle load condition.
* Turbocharger vane sweep strategy - Performs a sweep of the turbocharger vanes and unison ring during stationary idle conditions. Vane sweep can occur once per hour to help reduce turbocharger sticking.
* FICM low voltage detection monitor - DTC P0560 stored and wrench warning lamp illuminated when PCM vehicle power (VPWR) parameter identifier (PIDS) is below 10.25V for 60 seconds or below 9V for 4 seconds.
* Turbocharger over boost detection - DTC P0234 stored and wrench warning lamp illuminated when a turbocharger over boost condition occurs.

To me, that says... in the worse case, the voltage in the system cannot drop below:
9V for more than 4 seconds,
or
10.25V for 60 seconds.
That just validated my cranking voltage test data, which is way above that.
Great info!!!!! My truck has had all the the stuff that goes bad replaced a year ago under warranty: head gaskets, coolers, turbo, egr valve, turbo drain tube, FICM, re-flash, and it also had a bedplate leak that was fixed. I bought the truck with 44,000 miles on it and the gaskets let go at 67,000 miles. I think the original owner had a tune on it because the dealer reprogrammed the truck before I bought it. I hope to keep this truck around a long time. Best tow vehicle I have ever owned!!!!! Thanks for all the info.
As far as I've been able to tell all it affects is the FICM flash. I can't get anyone with an 03 or 04 PCM to give me the latest flash strategy if it even changes.
Wonder whose fault is it to create and market an engine that cannot stand tunes / mods owners put on without major upgrades like ARPs?
Yeah, this is true. The first thing people said to me me when I got rid of my V-10 for the 6.0 truck I have now is "hey I know a guy that can put a tune on that 6.0 and you can get 20mpg and more horsepower and this and that". I said no way, the truck runs great for being stock and I don't need the drama down the road. I have enough going on with 3 Mustangs to work on lol.
Have you tried to get Ford to warranty repair your souped up Mustangs? LOL
The 6.0 / 6.4 is the only product they make that they turn a blind eye to mods most of the time and just eat the repair bills.
That ain't right.
That is why the diesel option is so expensive.
If the option was "locked down", I think diesel engine option prices would drop by 40%
Well one thing for sure is I don't have the ***** to mod out my 2003 Mach 1 because if I blow it up I would not know how to fix it-I am a old school pushrod guy!!!!!! And yes the Ford dealer has fixed every dam thing under warranty on my truck. I bought the Ford ESP when got the truck. No hassels whatsoever from Ford. I paid $2,000 for the ESP. That was in Sept. 2008.
