351w hose replacement

Howdy,
I have to replace a small section of hose. It runs from the water pump to the heater. I am replacing the section from the water pump to the tube that attaches to alternator, 6 inches or so.. Will I have to bleed the line after I replace the hose? Can I just add coolant to the radiator and go? Is there any precaution I should take before replacing the hose? Small job, but I need the heater to work. Little chilly in Co. these days.
Thanks in advance,
Shiner

No bleeding necessary. Replace your hoses and top off your rad with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze of your choice. Leave the rad cap off and start your engine. Let it run until the thermostat opens and starts to flow the coolant through. The level will drop after it "burps" the air from the system. Top it off and replace your rad cap and top off your coolant reservoir. You may have to top off the reservoir again after it cools down.

After going back over my post I would add to turn your heater on high while "burping" the system so as to clear any air trapped in the new line(s).

Thanks for the Info. I really appreciate the reply. Sounds painless.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again,

Hey Shiner something else you could do while the bad hose in being changed is disconnect the other heater hose and flush out the heater core with a water hose.

Those two small hose's are a in and out to the core. A good low pressure flush may help your heat.

Just an idea while the system is open.

That is a good idea. I imagine the lines are easy to distinguish, flow in and flow out. Should I just hold the hose to the "in" line and wait til all the coolant flows out? Shouldn't take much pressure to flush, i imagine.
Really appreciate the help.
adios
