I don't know if they sell it to the public, at work we use "Rubber Prep" Its used to clean the surface of a tire when doing a flat repair. This cleaner helps remove the small particals that interfere with the bonding of a tire repair. IE making the patch stick to inside of tubeless tires. Hope this helps. Kurt G. Y-blocks rule.
I don't recommend Westley's. It'll break down the white rubber pretty fast. Overtime it'll crack and become brittle. Keep in mind that you might not be able to get the marks out completely if they had time to penetrate. However, the marks will get better over time with regular cleaning.
I use Coker's brand white wall cleaner. I follow the instructions and have had good results. Pre-wet the surface with water, spray the cleaner on the white walls, let them sit for up to 10 minutes, scrub with a brush and then rinse off with water.
I've kept the WWW clean on my 52 Panel and the 37 Airflow by using Coker's brand for several years.
Ilya,I will admit I've never owned a set of WWW's.I had used Westley's only to clean raised white letters on tires when we sold them years ago, to remove the blue protective coating. It worked great for that purpose, but I have to yield to the voice of experience.
No problem, Steve. I only speak from "facts"! TEE HEE
Using Westley's on small letters like you had is ok. Even using it once or twice on WWW should be ok. Prolonged use isn't recommended. Westley's has harsh chemicals that will do damage to the WWW over time.
I tried my wife's magic erasers, that she uses in the kithchen, on raised the white lettering on my tires and they worked great. These are the ones adverised on TV.
I haven't had WW in twenty years, but Comet or Brillo pads did work. I missed the hee hee move to San Josey. Some will go to extremes to stay on FTE, HAHA, HOHO, HeeHee.
ilya hit the nail on the head. good advise. once they are clean, try using lexol vinylex, blue bottle, for a protective coating that will last and does not draw dirt like armour all. if you use this, go by directions. soak cloth with product, DO NOT spray on surface.
