V-10 Oil changes

I have had the same company change my oil since it's first oil change, all documented and at regular intervals. Havolene.
At 100,000 miles they recommended to switch to a "high milage" oil which I did. I have had the motor flushed once in it's 150K life.
Right now the motor uses about 2 quarts between changes around 3500 miles on average.

Question:
Is this amount of oil usage normal? No leaks.
Would anyone recommend switching brands, type?

Thanks

Ford says a quart per thousand is okay even on a new engine. None of us would like that, but it is not something to worry about, and you are using less than that with 150k on the clock.

I think they are wasting your money with the high mileage oil, but that's just an opinion. The high mileage oil is designed to leak less, so if you have no leaks maybe it has helped. Dunno.

I wouldn't sweat it.

Replace your PVC valve and check the elbow behind it. If the elbow is cracked replace it.

I would switch back to the Havoline or another quality non-synthetic oil, then monitor your usage.

If you stick with the HM oil (usually it's semi-synthetic) the usage should slow down after a change or two.

I'll check it. Why?
Also, I have not changed my oil. I was just asking if I needed to because of the amount of usage.

Why? Because your oil usage may be caused by a defective PCV valve or cracked elbow and not any internal engine wear.

Sorry I have to ask. I'm not a mechanic and do not know the function of the PVC.
I do know that the motor has no oil leaks. It is clean.
