67-72 Tailgates

Found a great deal on a tailgate insert. Was wondering if there are any differences between 67-72 tailgates. I have a 1967 F100 longbed.

This is my tailgate

This is picture similar to one of the inserts I found

#1

This is a picture similar to the other insert I found

#2

My question is do I get #1 or #2 style tailgate insert?

Thanks

C7TZ9940700A .. Styleside Tailgate / 1967/72 F100/350.

This tailgate has a raised ovate scallop line that encircles the FORD letters.

C4TZ9940700A .. Styleside Tailgate / 1964/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD.

This tailgate will fit 1967/72's (all the mounting hardware is the same), but...does not have the scallop line, and has larger FORD block letters than the 1967/72 tailgate.

67'-72' Tailgate

As Number Dude mentioned the ''raised ovate scallop'' I know he will come up with a Part # the 67'-72' with the factory installed aluminum ford insert including the 70' up Ranger & Ranger XLT this trim mounted in the ''R.O.S.'' it is formed into the tailgate a flat area were the rivets or screws depending on application you can put the trim on the non trimed tailgate but the screws are not going to fit right if you had both tailgates side by side you will see the difference.

lol I am a carbon fiber fanatic and my other car is a Lexus GS300. I wanted the screen name CarbonGS but back where I first put that in on another forum they wouldn't let me _ or capitalize. So, CarbonGS turned into carbongs and it stuck. Till this day 6 years later people are still calling me Carbongs haha

There is only one tailgate for 1967/72 Stylesides (C7TZ9940700A). There are 4 different finish panels, none are listed for 1967's.

C8TZ99425A34A .. Tailgate Finish Panel (the letters only are painted black).

Fits: 1968/69 F100/350 (all) before serial number F70,001 / 1970 F100/350 except Ranger/Ranger XLT.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOTZ99425A34A .. Tailgate Finish Panel (#1 in post #1).

Fits: 1969 Ranger from serial number F70,001 / 1970/72 Ranger except XLT.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOTZ99425A34B .. Tailgate Finish Panel (similar to the above, but it's woodgrained).

Fits: 1970/72 Ranger XLT.
-------------------------
D1TZ99425A34A .. Tailgate Finish Panel (#2 in post #1).

Fits: 1971/72 F100/350 except Ranger/Ranger XLT.

btw: In September 1966, Ford OBSOLETED the C4TZ9940700A tailgate (see applications in post #2), replaced it with the C7TZ9940700A tailgate for use as a service part replacement.

OK cool. I thought maybe it had something to do with intake and exhaust.
