Automatic Transmission mount replacement

I have been trying to replace the rubber/ poly transmission mounts on my 84 F150. I was able to order the top rubber pieces from Ford, but I need to reuse the ones that are on the bottom of the cross member. The problem that I am having is t hat I cannot get the top and bottom pieces separated. I took the bolt out and everything feels loose, but they will not pull apart. I am hesistant to take a saw, and cut them apart, because I don't ruin a piece that I need to reuse. Can someone give me tips as to what I may be missing, or how to get them apart? Is there two metal sleeves inside the rubber bushings that are rusted together or something?

Thanks,

I have never messed with those mounts, but the metal sleeve in the middle is a good bet. That's the way the body mounts work, with a sleeve. That gives the bolt something to tighten against. It would never tighten up against rubber. And the sleeves on the body mounts do like to rust, I remember using a large pry bar on them.

nolan62, no that's not it. These are just the rubber cylindrical bushings that have a metal tube going through it, on one side the tube connects to a round plate. That's about the best way I can describe them.

I did try a large pry bar, I even rigged up a puller trying to pull them apart, and they wouldn't budge.

I might be able to find the obsolete lower rubber insulators NOS, but I need to know what engine/transmission.

And...are these trans mounts, or transfer case mounts?

300 inline 6 with a C-6 tranny. The mounts are on the transmission.
