Codes

I pulled up the carpet in the rear bay and found this paper telling me all about my truck, but its all in codes and I want to ask you guys if you know anything. I found on the web site about the rear end codes saying my truck had the limited slip (H9) 3.55s
The Transmission has two codes (prefix E8TP) and (suffix GA)
What tranny do I have?

Codes

I am looking for the same info on my '87 EB.

My trans code in the door is "T" and Axle says "19" type "U" I can't find any cross reference material.

If you find something would you please pass it on?

"Posi" is short for "positraction", which is the GM name for limited slip. 19 is an "open" differential with 3.55s.

moe
"T" is the AOD transmission; a non-electronic automatic overdrive.

K is the C6; a mechanical non-OD automatic, widely considered to be among the strongest automatics ever built. It uses both vacuum and mechanical kickdowns. Early mech. kickdowns were pushrods - later ones (like yours, probably) are cables.

Learn to ID automatics by gasket.

Learn about differentials.

If you want a doc & a pdf that explain VINs and other codes, send me a real e-mail, but be prepared to recieve ~500K.
