Add two small turbos to 7.3 IDI

If this has been discussed point me to same. I did search but did not find anything that applies to most of my questions.

I have an 84 E350 van with an 89 7.3 IDI - was a 460. I drive from below sea level to 11.5K feet. It really hates high altitude. At 11K feet it has been known to produce more soot than torque. So my main goal is to try to keep the inlet air at sea level. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

It is somewhere between impractical and impossible to put a turbo in the normal location behind the intake. So I have two T3/T4 that I plan to mount on stubs below the stock exhaust manifolds. They have 7 pound waste gates.

First, that puts them too low for the standard gravity oil drain back system. So rather than a catch can and scavenge pump I plan to go one step further and use a pressure pump and stand-alone oil system.

First question is what to do about crankcase vent. At least I think that is what that can between the intake and valley cover is involved with.

I am considering an intercooler with in and out on the same end, two fans, mounted along the frame. I have had a similar trans cooler there for a long time and it is doing well. I do not use the trans heat exchanger in the radiator, on any vehicle, except my 2001 PSD which I have not messed with.

The compressor output ports are 1.7 inches. The OD is two inches. That is an internal cross section of 2.27 square inches. Times two is 4.54 square inches, and that equates to a diameter of 2.4 inches. So I am thinking 2.0 inches from turbos to a Y, and 2.5 from Y to intake. Any reason to go larger?

The stock air cleaner will be replaced by an elbow. The stock air cleaner has a much smaller outlet than the intake manifold opening. What was the reason for that?

Are you aware that companies such as Hypermax make kits for a van? or are you only interested in using the 2 turbos you mentioned?
