Horse Power and Torque Ratings.
The 5.0Lt has 3 ratings, one from Ford for insurance, one that is real HP and one that is rated in Ford Motorsports. This list is from my BoL that works at Fords.
1. 5.0 LT the insurance one- 210-225
2. real one lists at 250-275. Can be higher depending on yrs. He has the one listed for 96 at 285 with a Letter and Caliberation number 6H in the code. As listed in some engine chip catalogs, such as Hypertech or Jet.
3. Ford MS, is 225 or the 275 HP listed the same way as above.
This was the problem I faced when I went to install a chip in my wifes truck and my 94 Aero. It depended on the Cal number and letter. For my 4.0 Lt was listed at 175 in the book, but it really was up to 195HP by the letter. You can screw yourself, if you install the wrong one.
