Yes I have another question with my 390, the one I recently bought has a 2 barrel intake and carb. The question I am asking is this intake has a large S cast on it. I have seen this on the 390 4 barrel intakes but not on the 2 barrel intakes, has anybody else seen this on any other FE?????
I've never seen one on 2bbl intake but I have a 68 390 4bbl intake with the "S" on it . I always assumed it stood for the S engine code on the late 60's vin's. The S code was for the GT390.The regular 4bbl 390 was a Z code. A 2barrel? Hmmm. got me.
You're right, Barry. That "S" manifold I have was from a t-bird 390- in a 68 mercury wagon. The engine code on that one was Z. I just figured they used the same manifold. I've only seen the "T" on the trucks but I'm learning new stuff all the time here. Thats what I love about this site.
O.k., does the "T" mean anything significant? I just picked up a 4-barrel manifold off a truck and am curious. Were those type of manifolds better for torque or is there any difference? Thanks.
The "T" manifolds were meant for trucks. My neighbor put one on his 390 galaxie and it worked pretty well. Not a performance item though. Definitely good for torque.
