truxedo bed cover

I have been doing some research on truck bed covers and need some opinions. I have a 2005 f150 5.5'' bed with the bed extender. I am looking to get a truxedo bed cover for the truck. I am going with truxedo because I have the TonneauMate tool box. I dont need an expensive cover as it will be used more seasonal than anything. Im looking for something to use primarily during the winter so I can throw snowboarding gear in the back and not have to worry about it getting stolen. I of course will use it during other times of the year when situations arrise. I have looked at TruXedo Lo Pro QT, and TruXport and the Edge. it has been hard to tell from their website if all three of these have automatic tension control. I think only the truxedo lo pro QT does but maybe the others do to. I think this would be nice but is it necessary? i have noticed a variety in price differences between all of them. I am leaning toward the truXport as it is cheaper and I think will fit my needs. anybody have any opinions on these or any guidance? thanks!

When I was looking for a Tonneau cover I was deciding between the Truxedo lo pro QT and the Extang RT. I went with the Extang RT for price reasons I believe but I haven't been disappointed. Like you, I use mine during the winter to haul ski and snowboard stuff and it works great for that. During other months it is extremely easy to roll back to use the bed. I can't comment on the Truxedo, but I love my Extang!

I purchased a LUND for my 07 Longbox it is a "tri fold" and not sure if it would work in your application.I am however very pleased with its construction, and ease of removal when required.

I just ordered a truxedo truxport and its still being delivered. This thread was a deciding factor for me. I especially like how the bows roll up with the cover. It was very reasonable priced too. Plus its made in the USA.

Thanks!

The TruXport does not have auto adjustment. Also, the Edge does not. The LoPro QT does have all of the auto tension adjustment, buckle closure when rolled up, etc.
I love my TruXport, and it fit my budget well. I highly recommend it if you don't feel you need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive models.
The auto adjustment I do not miss. Honestly, it's so easy to adjust the TruXport that I think the auto isn't needed. It doesn't require tools to make the tension adjustment, as the adjustment is made by turning a small ****. It's quite simple really.

-15*c and it works great. I am very pleased with mine.

Yeah I don't know why anybody would pay extra for auto tension control when it's as easy as turning a ****. Not that hard to figure out

Just got my truxport cover on. It was 18 degrees out and dark before I finished. I need to do some fine adjustments on a nicer day. The clamps were a PITA. It looks great though. Almost no creases at all. Its so easy to roll up too, I had to test it haha. You should be very happy with it.

Good call. You'll appreciate the cover more than the box at this point.

thats what i assume too. i figure the cover is locked and "theft proof". ill just get a box of some sort to hold my few items and throw that in the back then look into a tool box later.
