Ididit makes a bolt in column. It has GM connections that will need to be converted to ford.

Not cheap, around 300 to 500 depending on options and a stock wheel will not fit.

what is the issue with your current column?

Never mind, that link was to Worm at Cen-Pen.

Here is a link to IDIDIT Dealers in the US. http://www.ididitinc.com/dealer_list...ealer_list.htm

Here is a place to start.

Probly salvage later model auto steering column from 'pick n pull' for around $50. Not sure what yr. tilt column was introduced, possibly another option, although would require refab and modification of the turn signal wiring harness, etc. Believe if donor column is in 73-79 yrs. should be able to swap mounting brackets and do away with the need to use spacers. Anyhow, food for thought.

I like 78 F100 or F250 tilt. Then do an aftermarket wheel or retro fit a 53 wheel. If your truck is two wheel drive with an automatic look for the same in the local junk yards or e-bay. The 78 tilt does not have the ignition switch on the column and unless you look closley most don't know you have a tilt. The only thing I do is swap out the dash loop bracket (cut the spot welds) or you could just use spacers on the 78 loop and bolt it in.

Thanks for this post, I've been wondering what tilt would fit without too much change. John

I'd like to find one that isn't in my chest like a NASCAR.

Has anyone shortened one from the dash to driver section?

Big Mike,

I just got my 66 and am 6'6" with the same problem. I drove it home for the first time yesterday and have smudges on my shirt from the steering wheel rubbing....

I like the stock look, but would like the wheel to set 4-6 inches closer to the dash and away from my belly.

the best,

Wichita Sam

I have a 74' unit in my 65' and I also cut the shaft 3' inches. I'm only 6' depending on how much I've had to drink. Works for me.
