I got a 1992 F250 with the 5.0 E4OD and I recently adjusted the timing and I think I have an issue. I DID remove the SPOUT connector for sure when I did this and the engine was at normal operating temperature. I checked it and it seemed a little lower than 10* like it's supposed to be. I bumped it up to 11* were it seemed fine. I did this because of cold start issues. It only does it when it's cold out. It'll run like it's on 3 cylinders. I changed the ECT, EGR, IAC, full tune up, new coil, fuel system is working great, and then some. I noticed with the timing up it seemed sorta better on starting and had lots more power. So I wanted to see how high I can get. I read many post on here and every car can be different. I was told some people are at 18* but I got up to about 14 maybe. I heard those labor knock / pings so I figured it was too high. I brought it back to 11* and still heard it but only while it would shift into 3rd gear. I kinda heard it goin into 2nd as well. So I lowered it more. I kept hearing it so I'm back at 10* (or maybe slightly lower I gotta check better) and I drove it, didn't hear anything. I shut it off at a store started it back up and when I drove I heard it slightly when shifting or if I kicked the pedal a little. It seems like it's throwing itself off ever since I put it up higher. Did I mess something up? I should of left it at 11 like I had it but I got curious. Why would it do this? ICM? Stator? Or just normal? OH! One more thing! When it runs like crap I disconnected the starter relay and held it in start and It ran good. Once it goes back to run it is back to idling choppy and stalling (until the engine warms up) and if it stalls I have to put the pedal down to start it as if it flooded from low spark. REMEMBER! Fuel system tested fine SEVERAL times! And full tune up.

can u b more specific on what you did for a full tune up?

Plugs are at .55 and they're brand new motorcraft plugs. I know they came pre-gapped at .55 and I just found out they should be .45. I guess that could be an issue. The tune up was new plugs, NAPA wires, cap, rotor, coil, fuel filter, and air filter.
