Craftsman Clamp on meters

Looking at Craftsman digital clamp-on ammeters, around $60 vs. over $100 for a Fluke. Since it's just home use, and the reviews seem to be ok, seems like a deal.

Anyone using these?

Models 82372 or 82369:

Hi,

I would for sure go to Sears and look it over -- just to see how rugged it feels. It probably is fine, but I would want to feel the clamp movement, switch activation etc. Also, I'd want to see if the plastic seemed to be stout.

If you can examine a Fluke for comparison, so much the better.

Accuracy is probably good, most digital meters are accurate. Quality of construction is generally where things differ.

Sears stuff can be fine, but it's worth checking it out.

Good Luck,

hj

Amprobe is good too. I have had two of them for 20+ years.

Not all clamp on meters can read both AC and DC current.
I know that Craftsman has a $60 meter that reads both.
The ability to read DC can help with diagnosing electrical drain in vehicles.

I was at Sears yesterday and looked at the $60 Craftsman. In addition to all the electrical functions it also has a thermometer probe.
