I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'll be sleeping better at night knowing this menace has been put to rest:
WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) - A wild turkey that took to city life but became troublesome for traffic is no longer trotting around Watertown.
The turkey didn't follow its flock when city development forced a move to more natural habitat. People began feeding the bird - some from vehicles as they passed by - and the turkey began to chase cars in hopes of a free meal.
An animal control officer and others in late December unsuccessfully tried to corral the turkey, which at one point jumped onto the hood of a patrol car.
Authorities this week decided the turkey's time had come. The officer lured the bird into some trees and shot it. Assistant Police Chief Scott McMahon tells the Public Opinion newspaper that it wasn't a desirable end, but there was no alternative.
Happy Monday! About the same amount of snow here Pat. The wimps closed all the schools down... whatever happened to the days of walking up hill both ways in a blizzard to get to/from school? By 11am, every kid within 30 miles of here will be at the mall.
Boss told me to head home at 3pm... that will be greatly appreciated since it's continued to snow here all day. I'm sure there will be more crazies on the road now than this morning.
