97 psd shut down advice needed

92k original on the oem psd with a fpr shim, had low psi @ about 35 and ran a shim for a few months in it with decent performance.no previous symptoms whatsoever for months, after operating it mildly for a few hours in traffic was in parking lot to park and then just cut out.Cranked it and unsure,no codes, tach inop ,has newer cps.Schradr valve no psi after cranking, fuses all good.potential fuel pump ? idm? hpop? have fuel in tank and yet to inspect filter although have heard its a good idea to change out filters more often with the lack of diesel fuel quality these days.Truck sitting nearby and about to begin inspection process now that we have 70 degree days again.Thankx to all responders

Check your #22 fuse and all others.
When cranking do you have white smoke out the pipe?
I had a 2 month old CPS go out...so no Guarentee there!

Does the "wait to start" light come on.
If not then check under hood fuse #22.

Yes,wts, cranks, fuse 22 good, fuse 17 good, unplugged fuel heater wire, changed cps and cranked twice and cranks strong with plenty of juics as i have gear driven starter that uses less amps.Pressed on the schrader valve and no psi after cranking.........hpop level good, thinking fuel pump quit functioning

That sounds like a lift pump issue to me.

I'd drain the filter can and then crank again to see if fuel is being pumped. Fuel in the tank?

You're at the same mileage where I had to replace my fuel pump, although mine was leaking a little as well. Do you consistantly use both tanks, or did you use one you haven't used in a while? Does the no start occur with both tanks?

use the same tank all the time so it seems the other spare motor is going to have one less part on it.How easy would the r&r be ?

After careful thought and considration thought to drain fuel bowl and then crank motor and see if it would have fuel & that did occur. So thinking that the hpop level should be checked, found it to be surprisingly low. With both batteries charged and a gear drive starter that uses less amps cranked more although no start.Beginning to consider a bad ipr, hpop,or since the oil has probably 4k on it change it.Heard about viscosity being a potential concern. No codes from superchips scanner, anyone have insight here from experience?

HPOP may be low due to extended cranking...
about the HPOP, aquiring a gauge set-up would help confirm a IPR issue or HPOP issue....but, inspect/take apart the IPR connector and inspect the harness, these will go bad...maybe even ohm out the harness down to the IPR connector.
And I guess there is no "CEL" illuminated?

Have the WTS and its warm here so no gp's needed although does cycle through,in the am will inspect ICP,un plug and crank,as well as IPR.Have an extra motor for parts.Even beginning to reconsider CPS and might go get another from Ford.Current one is about 4 months old.

Tried the unplug the ICP sensor and cranked....... nothing,as well the IPR and cranked......nothing......... so onto the possible CPS as yet to get one from Ford and also perhaps the IDM or PCM.Verified the Neutral Safety Switch and the bypass wires are intact. So have an extra PCM for a 5 speed and swap them out.Report the results when this is accomplished.

been playing with this truck more, now have 30psi fuel while cranking, unplugged icp and turns over with no start.Wondering if the psi is low rendering the fuel pump inop.Replaced Cps with gauge moving while cranking, fuse 22 and all that covered already.Gear drive starter w good bateries, getting a code 1280.IPR oring kit just arrived and as soon as i make the removal tool repair it.Happy Friday all psd peepz
