Fuel pump bad?
I was gonna buy a truck from a friend for my wife. 1988 F-150. 5.0, auto, 4x4. didnt run when i first saw it at my buddies house. been sittin for over 4 years, so i knew it had issues. it ran for a minute a couple months ago, but died, and we didnt feel like messin with it till we got good gas in it. about a month ago, we put 10 gallons of good gas in it, tried to fire it and nothing. heard the fuel pump kick on, tested the fuel pressure, and got 1psi. Figured it was the filter. changed the filter today, and still nothing. checked the valve on the fuel rail, and got air. no fuel spurted up, just air. the truck will run if you spray gas into the throttle body, but it has no fuel thru the rail. My friend said there are two pumps on that truck....one in the tank, one midway up the line by the filter. i am guessing the in tank pump is bad, cause i can hear the mid-ship pump buzzing. sound right to you guys?
