Today I am very excited, I have found a complete 5.8 engine I am looking at purchasing to go into my truck. The price is right if it comes with most of the stuff I need. Hopefully I can go and take a look at it soon. But so far I have only heard about it over the phone. Does anyone know what a 351 engine should have for compression when it is BRAND NEW? My chiltons says 8.8:1 ratio but I don't have a clue how to relate this to PSI if it is in fact, possible. I believe this one has somewere around 55-70k miles but I would just like to compare compression to a new engine. The guy that is selling it says it has 150psi with no variation between cylinders. Is this good? Thanks a bunch guys.
I will become yet another victim of the 302-351 swap. I went ahead and bought it. Now comes the fun part, tricking it out and dumping it in between the fenderwells of my 90 f-150. Now, I guess we will see if my pocket book can take it.
I looked through your gallery, sounds like you have a pretty hot 351. As of right now, I plan to leave the stock heads on there. Gets to be to much money for me right now. But I plan on possibly changing the cam, not sure if I want to go all out with the MAF conversion or keep it speed density compatible. $$$ I will be sure to keep it posted here, probably wont get started for another couple months by the looks of things depending on how much money I have left over. I am planning on having someone else do the install for me, or part of the install if that is possible.
