Morning guys! I get to work on the shop again today. Got a ton of work done last week and should have power installed sometime this week (I hope...). I had a half dozen people show up last week wanting me to work on their rigs and I haven't even finished up the shop yet.......sigh.........

I have to go to Portland to get lumber tomorrow and am NOT looking forward to it........

Why all the way to Portland? Don...........No lumber in The Dalles? This is Oregon, ya' know!
I am ahead of the game, no new work has come up, looks like the rain has killed the lawn maint. part.
I can go back to working on the Bronco II from hell!

Seems like I saw a stock powerstroke exhaust on Portland Craigslist in the past few days for $25... just search in the auto parts section under powerstroke and you should be able to find it. I can't remember what year it came off of and I can't get on CL here at work.

What in the world would you want with a cat for a powerstroke anyway?

I need some 3/4" plywood and the cheapest I've found around here is $23-$25 per sheet. I found a unit of 3/4" Maple veneer plywood in Portland for 5 bucks a sheet! I'm buying 30 sheets of that and 30 sheets of 3/8" Cherry veneer for 5 bucks a sheet also.......

I am also taking 1,000+ pounds of brass to the scrapper there. At a dollar more per pound it's worth it to take it down there. I just hate driving West.................lol

I do not blame you..........Portland drivers are in a class by themselves, leave 5ft between you and the other guy at 75mph, and some yuppie in a subaru outback wedges themselves in there.

When I used to work for the big mill in the good old days, lumber and firewood was free!
rejects and scrap pile ya' know!

I took a bunch of alum. to the scrapper...........damn tweekers make it harder to take scrap in than to buy a handgun! They stripped city light poles in a park for the copper wiring, and watch out for your cat. converter! more than a few people have woke up to finding "customized" exhaust systems!

No sweat my friend...lol

I wish my old high school buddy hadn't gotten divorced. His father-in-law ran the dump in Boise. There where 6 Mobile home builders there that would haul the excess stock to the dump. He use to bring me TRUCK LOADS of new lumber, appliances, roofing, insulation, etc.............What a deal that was! One year we split over 20 grand in stuff I sold for him....................

We had a conveyor belt that could be turned on, that you parked your pick-up underneath.........as soon as it was switched on, all the trim ends from the trim saw line came down that belt instead of going to the chippers.......man!, in less than 2 minutes you had a spring sagging load of firewood..........cost: $0 dollars.

Oh, the good old days.

I intend to bring the "good ol days" back!

I've got a rock solid source of 36-40 inch Doug Fir logs 30-40 feet long. About 25 log truck loads. I'm seriously looking at a portable saw mill.............I really don't like the units I've seen so far, so I may build my own.

With log prices as they are, its not surprising you can find nice logs like that...........lumber prices are in the toilet, but go to buy it for yourself.......look out!

There is a very good market for rough sawn lumber over here. I intend to take advantage of it!

It doesn't hurt that a lot of my friends and customers are loggers....................

I also know where there are some 60+ inch Ponderosa Pine, some of the most beautiful wood I've ever seen...................
