I'm buying a 91 f150 short bed 2wd wanted a 4x4 but can't find one in my area for my small bugget. I Was woundering what's the biggest mud tire that will fit on it with a 3'' body lift(performance accessories lift kit)and with stock wheels and what size tire will fit with out 3''lift? Wanted to put 32x11.50x15 or bigger? Also what is a good mud tire on a 2wd don't want to get stuck too much.Truck is going to be used mostly off road huntting, fishing, playing in the mud,and around town dont mind tire noise. Wanted to spend around $150 a tire. Thanks harry
Get a 32/11.5/15 BFG mud terrain. Fits on the stock rim and will give you enough suspension travel to maneuver around terrain. 33/10.5s would fit, but not enough suspension travel, they would be very tight. The 32's will fit on the stock rims if the ones you have are 7.5" wide. I also suggest some kind of traction device, such as a Limited slip or locker. You won't get very far with an open differential 2wd p/u. I had a 2wd with the 32" BFGs and went off roading a few times. It's tough, don't get too cocky or you'll get stuck quick. But that truck had a LS in the back, which helped out a lot. This new truck I have has an open diff, and in 2wd it would get suck on wet grass.
I would also go with 32X11.50X15 mud terrains. You will have to run the 3" body lift to run them though. And also check to see what gears you have in the rear end.
