Some may have seen the thread I had on large fuel leak a little while back, quick recap I changed oil and fuel filter -started truck and a few minutes later she started leaking fuel bad..
-bought all o-rings for fuel bowl, hoses and a new pump, followed instructions from dieselorings.com (where I bought hoses and orings from) -put in new pump, cleaned and changed all orings in fuel bowl, got truck back together today (pain in *** but nothing too difficult)
-also installed a new pair of batteries
In my haste I started truck, started right up, noticed fuel leaking bad so tried to see from where and then truck started running rough, smoke and started to die, shut it down before it did. Well I forgot to shut drain valve (which works excellent now btw)
Truck now wont restart, cranks and fires every now and then, thats it, checked fuse 22 and its good. May have run it dry for a few seconds? The fuel bowl has refilled with fuel. WTS works, I have a stancor relay and cps was replaced a few months back. Tach moves a little when cranking.
ok... took FPR off side of bowl, when I disconnected the high pressure lines they where both dry, dissasembled FPR again, found some gunk that looks to have come loose from somwhere, made sure all passages where clean and clear, put back in, checked ICP connection (oil soaked) cleaned it, disconnected Fuel Bowl heater connection, double checked everything and cranked her over, after a few tries she started to rumble a little, cranked it again burpling for a lil while and she fired up..
purrs like a kitten now.. much quieter (to my ear) then it use to be, ran it awhile shutdown and started right back up.. no leaks..
old pump must have been shot and the mystery sludge probably wasnt helping!
