I just about had the 85 fixed up to were I wanted it, Then I did a bone headed move, while out feeding the cattle I flipped it on it's lid. Luckily I wasn't hurt, and was alone. Called the Son, got the tractor, and pulled it back on it's wheels. After setting for 5-10 minutes hit the starter and it fired up, and I drove it home.
So now I get to start over building it back up. After the high scrap prices the last few years good rust free cabs are scarce as hens teeth in this part of the world, without driving some distance. But I'll keep looking, and find one, or a compleat donor sometime.
So yesterday a 96 crewcab dually followed me home. It is a nice truck, but really not equiped like I would like. Just a 2 wheel drive with an auto tranny, with a Mark 3 conversion. Only 129K on the clock. I want to convert it to a 4X4 with a ZF5, as I have a nearly compleat 95 crew donor on hand. I guess time will tell if I get this job done.
Sorry to that. I know the feeling tho. Back in 95 I completely restored a 78 F150. One month after I got it on the road a semi made a right turn into a junkyard from the left lane (on a 4 llane highway) in front of me and totaled my truck. Turned out to be my fault as I was supposed to yeild the right of way to him at 55mph.
