I just drained water to add antifreeze. It took almost 20 min for the upper hose to get hot but it happened all of a sudden so pretty sure there is a thermostat in there and laser temp gun showed head by thermo housing around 180 or so.
I had the heater temp all the way up and it threw heat normally but it sounds like water is running with air behind the dashboard.
Is there a way to bleed these systems?
Main rad cap fill is full even after the thermostat opened.
92 straight 6,
oh, and whose idea was it to make a virtually clear (very slight yellowish) antifreeze?
It sounds like yours is pretty well bled. Let it run another 20 minutes while watching the temperature guage to make sure the engine doesn't overheat. I can't explain the noise in your second paragraph. My '88 with the straight six doesn't bleed so easily. I have to disconnect one of the heater hoses by the block to let the air out so the block can fill with coolant. I prefer the Texaco green colored anti-freeze, but to each his own.
