Help I failed
I took my truck to get tested today and I failed the CO2 part, it's suppose to below 5.00 and mine reads 9.96. It's a 75 F100 with a 390 in it. It past last year but since then I have put a rebuilt 390 and a 4bbl on it. The only thing it has is the cat converter.
Can anyone help? Does anyone know what effects the co2 reading. timing up or down, leaning out the carb.
Someone told me to put two bottles of rubbing alcohal in with a half a tank of gas.

If you have high CO then you need more air, try giving her a good tune up.

Help I failed
Was the 390 the motor you tested with last year, or did you just put in a rebuilt 390 in place of another motor? I had a similar problem with my wifes Capri. It passed last year, we rebuilt the motor and then it failed. We changed cam's which changed the profile. All it required was a little carb tweaking to fix. You say you have a cat on your truck. Thats weird, on a 75? The smog stations around here dont require you to have one unless the vehicle is 82 or newer, even if it was factory equipment.

Help I failed
I ordered a new cat for the truck and I'm going to do a little tuning this weekend. I'm going to look around to see if I can find a shop to test it for me, the problem alot shops around here do not won't to work on older trucks or they do not know how.
