No Overdrive
1997 F150 4.6L that trys to shift in to OD but the engine just revs up. Transmission man says this is a commn problem with this tranny, the computer sends signal to transmision that gives the OD band too much pressure and breaks it. He also mentioned that their is a fix but wasn't sure what it was. Any help would be great so that I am sure of what he is doing in the rebuild and not charging too much for un-needed items or labor. Thank in advance for responces.

I have the same problem with my 2000 F150. I too have received 5 different opinions from 5 different mechanics, however, two mechanics say it's the ECM. Would really like to know. Sorry I couldn't help but now you are not alone with this problem.
