Gasket set

Ive been looking around for a complete gasket set for an 87 6.9. Hopefully I will be picking up the replacement engine on Monday. Probably wont get it into the truck for a couple of months as I try to take time to do some refurbishments on it. My plan is to change out the oil seals and all gaskets except the head gaskets. Ill probably change the vacuum and fuel pump too. I also plan to start off with a full synthetic oil.

Any good links for gaskets? Particularly the rockers. Should I buy a set or is it better to buy individually?

Why not the head gaskets? Since it is out of the truck and easey to get to I would change them as well. Just for piece of mind.

i would do the head gaskets too if i were you... you would be pretty aggrivated if you put all the other ones in got in the truck and then the head gasket started leaking....

here is the set from autozone i would go with this one even though it cost a bit more.... ive heard good things about victor rienz gaskets

Victor Reinz/Full Gasket Set (FS3789) | Full Gasket Set | 1987 Ford F250 3/4 ton P/U 4WD 8 Cylinders 1 6.9L Diesel | AutoZone.com

here is the set from orielly made by felpro

List: Engine Kit Gasket Set - 1987 Ford F-250 | O'Reilly Auto Parts

you can also get a kit from international but you have to call them for prices and part numbers ect.... ill be getting my kit from international when i rebuild my 7.3 for the turbo.

You guys are right. I think I may go ahead and do the heads too.................. Its gonna be a lot easier to do them on an engine stand.
I cant afford ARP studs but I wont be running a turbo anyway. Should I go for new head bolts or re-use what I have?

Thanks for the useful links

Just reuse them unless you see something physically wrong with them, these headbolts are not torque to yield type bolts.

I used the Victor Reinz head gasket set and valley pan from Carquest 2 winters ago, they are extremely high quality!
