Look down the carb and see if you are pumping fuel. See if you have spark at the plug. Backtrack on the missing item.
On ground wires. It was suggested to me to attach ground wires from bed to frame, from cab to frame, from engine to frame and front end to frame. Attach the battery ground to either the frame or engine. All truck sections use grounds for some system such as lights, radio/ instruments, engine and lights again. Attach grounds so you can check them occasionally for tightness and corrosion. chuck
