Wow, here we've been complaining about too much "liquid sunshine", but if you're getting the "solid" -and colder- stuff, I guess I better not complain.....

Wow! I never knew S. Carolina could get snow or ice. Pretty rare, or happens a lot?
Seems I never fail to learn something new....

Well, all I can really say now is that I hope all of you down there stay safe and, hopefully, warm! And Mike, as long as that dyno(the mechanical one) is indoors, keep getting all that good info for us(yeah, we can get just a little selfish.....;-)

I know its little consolation, but its -15 here and we've been mired in 24" of snow for 2 months. Obviously I am aware that snow, cold, and ice are rare occurences in the Southern US and that is particularly hard because most residents are not prepared for such weather. I do pray that all remain safe and warm down there.

We've probably got another month to 6 weeks of brutal cold before we start warming up to mid 20s-low 30s.

No worries Bill like the old saying , Why buy new when used will do?
Working on drive ability issues this week in normal mode; next week hope to do some more tow/haul mode calibration work...with one of our trailers.

Hey Mike- After looking at the above dyno chart and seeing where you gained about 10-15#/ft at the low RPM end of the scale, I was wondering if you could really tell much of a difference when driving? A little better throttle response? A LOT??? I don't know how to equate dyno numbers to real-world driving. Clue us in here, if you could....

Hi Gary
Well these are real world numbers for starters on 87 cheap gas. We are still working on the calibration though for power. Also this 87 calibration has no additional timing advance in it at all, its all factory timing so its safe. The extra torque is there and is noticeable from tip in to the 5000 rpm plus there are drive ability corrections made. Like converter locking up to soon in 3rd, 1st gear hangs too long at low speeds. Engine lugs in 6th gear. cold Idle start up too high. Those are just a few we have corrected. The tow/haul mode has some issues has well but more work on this is coming up. Corrections are very similar to the Super Duty if you check out our Got a 6.2L section on our website. Our goal is to have a solid calibration great for performance and towing and for just spirited driving around town.

Hi, can you explain a bit more about your findings in the tow/haul mode and what you plan to fix?

Mike, I'll be keeping up with your progress but I don't visit the newer truck threads often. If something new comes up that isn't in this thread, let me know! I'd love to see some more pictures of this new Silver Beauty.

I'm going to look for that dyno chart. I guess I passed that up.

I was surprised when I first saw that the new 5.0 doesn't make peak torque until 4,000 rpm, give or take. It then occured to me that perhaps the new 302 grabs on to it's torque at a lower RPM but hangs on to it pass 4,000 RPM.
If the dyno chart doesn't clue me in I'll ask you how you feel about the low end torque!

The dyno chart is one page back in this thread, about in the middle of the page. You can't miss it.
While this motor peaks on torque in the 4000'sRPM, a huge percentage of that is available down in the 2000'sRPM, where it is really needed.
I can't wait to drive one of these beasts(or an EcoBoost!), but I know if I do I'm gonna want one SOOOO BAD! Actually, I already do....
