1955 F150......5.0L 4 speed with overdrive.
The thing keeps jumping out of overdrive. It will not stay in at all.
Also when the truck is cold it is hard to shift from 1st to 2nd without a little "grinding." Once it warms up it shifts fine. Any ideas on my problem?

I am assuming you have a manual. Sounds like might be your synchros going bad. Afterall you said it was a 1955, so must be tons of miles ;^).
Assuming you meant 1995, then you may have enough miles to have worn things out. You might drain the oil and check for particles.
Sounds like it might be time for a rebuild.
