Hey guys, havent been on here in awhile but now i have a problem. I noticed a couple months ago my truck started pulling all over the road. it doesnt pull in one certain direction all the time it just randomly pulls left or right. Its like i have to fight with it to keep it going straight. Checked the ball joints and i had a drivers side upper and passenger side lower out. I replaced all 4 ball joints and still didnt help. So i put a rancho steering stabilizer on it and still didnt fix it. i dont have harly any play in my steering so i didnt think it would be the steering box. Wheel bearings seem to be fine. Any suggestions on what else it could be? I have a baby on the way thats going to be here pretty soon so i dont want to spend a whole lot of money. Thanks for any help guys.
The tires have around 8,000 miles on them. Theyre 285x75 sport kings. this is my second set of these tires the first set was fine untill they wore out and the new set has been fine untill recently. they aren't wearing differently and i even had them balanced and rotated last week
Steering box may have excessive play in it - there's an adj screw on top of the box. This is kind of the 'last resort' - I'd make sure all the rest of the steering linkage is in good shape before trying to adj the box. Check all the tie rod ends for play, check the sway bar links, panard <sp?>bar bushings, etc. The box can be adjusted but not very much.
axle u-joints need replaced. Jack up the truck, turn wheel one way, with hub free see if you can turn the axle with your fingers at the u-joint. u-joints will cause this problem with hubs free or locked.
