Cruise Control

I have a 2001 Excursion 4x4 with a V-10. My Cruise control is not working. When I push the "on" button, nothing happens. When I push the "set" button, the green "cruise" light flashes, but it does not stay on, and the cruise does not work. I am not even sure where to start looking. Any sugestions? thank you! BTW the horn works so I dont think it is the clock spring.

Ive heard that the light flashing is a code I believe. Count the times it flashes. Also has the recall swith been changed on master cylinder? If not thats more than likely the problem.
