1985 5.0L into 1990 engine swap

So I bought a 90 F150 with 175,000 km's on it. The guy I bought it from said it needed a water pump but ran great. Turns out it's needed a water pump for quite awhile and from the sounds of the motor, it got reeeeeeally hot on at least one occasion. I have a 5.0L EFI from an '85 with a few more miles on it, but it runs real strong and doesn't use oil. More importantly it doesn't sound like a hammermill when it runs. If I swap the intakes, there should be no problem with this, right? From my understanding though, the '85 has E6 heads and the 90 has E7s? Either way I don't care about the power difference; It just has to run nicely. Any help or heads up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
