whats up yall, just got another 71 f100 just like my other one, it came with lots of extra parts and im just wandering if they will work, it might be stupid sounding but im only 17 and dont know to much about fords. truck came with a pwer steering pump and gear box out of 76 ford it had a t85 o/d in it that wouldnt go into o/d so i pulled it also came with a 3speed tranny and a granny 4 speed which i dont think will fit also came with drive shaft out of another 71 to fit the 3 speed also came with a bed full of other parts such as 5 sets of mirrors, random 700r4 tranny, 2 3spd steerin column, alot of xtra trim, new sliding rear window, and other random crap, so heres my question, will the 3 speed bolt right up, using same bell housing clutch assembly, the shaft is the same length and same splines as the t85 but its 1/4 inch shorter, idk if thats a problem or not and the end of the shaft that goes into the pilot beearing is 1/2 inch longer, everything else is the ssame but i just dont want to wsate all my time putting it in and it end up not working, so if yall have any input that would be awsome,by the way i got the truck in a trade for a dirtbike i paid 50 bucks for, new battery carb kit and some gas i got it humming like a song, runnin good other than wont go into overdrivethanks in advanceevan
ekm, Where are you located? I am asking to see if you have a neighbor FTEer close by that could give you a hand. I would think an OD tranny that wouldn't engage OD may have had linkage issues that needed adjusting.
Just stop where you are and let's see if we can't help. Don't start talking to no air head chebby owner either, they're mo trouble.
thanks jo, I called my grandpa last night after I posted the forum, he was a mechanic at the ford dealership in bartlett for 25 years so I think I can trust him haha, well one of the main reasons I pulled the t85 o/d was because I want to rebuild it and put it in my other 71 when I get the motor finished because it wil be my daily driver and I figure the o/d will help me out with mpg's, I'm fixin to go start workin on it so I'll let yall know what happens,
thanks
