Would there be any advantages when building a 400 to using a set of Cleveland 2V Heads? Has anybody ever bolted a set on to their 351M/400 and noticed any performance gains? Thanks for any input!
cleveland 2v's and 351m/400 heads are almost the same. the exhaust ports are a little different. you might be able to port you heads to about the same profile. do a search here for porting.
you might gain a little bit with 2v heads, its my opinion that the gain might not always be worth the expense.
Looking at "Bubbas M-Block V-8 Workshop", the early 400 heads are just about the same head as the 351C 2V, except that the combustion chambers are actually a few cc's smaller than the Clevelands. A little port work and those should be excellent street heads. Some of the 75 and later castings even drop another cc, but the redesigned exhaust ports pretty much make them a bad deal for performance. I'm going to clean up my 73 400 heads and use them.
