Newbie introduction

I've been on here for a few months, but since I never really introduced myself... born in 79, always lived in MA except for college in NH, work in advertising, always been into old cars and trucks. Spent a few years living at home after college, watching my dad work on his Triumph TR8 and restore his Volvo 122 (that we drove up to NH to retrieve to save from a crusher)... always was fascinated watching him restore the Volvo (still a work in progress), and had a blast driving around his TR8.

Fast forward a few years, bought my own fixer-upper. Spent a lot of time borrowing vehicles to pick up plywood, etc from the home improvement stores. Then I needed a new car cause mine died. Was going to get a new truck but the gas mileage would kill me on my commute, then I had the bright idea to buy an inexpensive, cool-looking old Ford to use as my hauling truck (but also have a classic - win-win)... and get an inexpensive commuting car. Couldn't be happier with my decision...although I up-sold myself to a brand new car as well (whoops). Now, not only do I have a truck I love (my girlfriend jokes I love it more than her), but the bonding time that I get to spend with my father is priceless. I have my truck garaged at their house for the winter (hope to have a garage built here by next winter), and many nights I get to work on my truck on one side of the garage, as he is working on his car right beside me... teaching me about the mechanics and restoration, answering my questions, helping when I get stuck.... all the while chatting about whatever the whole time. That alone is worth the cost of the truck. I'm sure there are others out there that know exactly what I'm talking about...

Merry Christmas all! And thank you for all of your help already, whether direct feedback to my questions or just other posts that I get to read and learn from... this is a great community.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you'll fit in just fine here on FTE forum...if the girlfriend thinks that you love your truck more than her then you're doing something right!

You have a sharp looking truck there. Enjoy all the father son bonding time you can get.
Here is the picture in his gallery. Please show us more.

Man, I can't wait until mine actually starts to look like a truck again....

Looks like you have a serious job ahead of you working on that truck, like scratching the paint, so be careful, lol. Very nice truck and glad to hear you have something in common with your dad and welcome to the forum.

Ha ha, ya she is in pretty good shape.. but still has a bunch of issues that don't show up in a pic from 20 feet away. Looking forward to learning how to weld...
