Did anyone notice the jumps monday late or early tuesday? From what I can see everything went up 20 or more cents a gallon overnight it seemed. Looks like Rockford is pushing 4 bucks real quick Anthony.
Everything in Chicago is now over 4 bucks a gallon.
This isnt even close to summer yet.
Yeah, and it's made life rather boring. I only drive when I absolutely have to now. I was looking forward to some road trips this summer, but it looks like that's going to change. Man this blows.
in city Chicago
87 octane
Highest (I've seen) 4.84
Lowest 4.19
The city has to strip out the city tax portion in order for a lot of people to eat in addition to getting to and from work. This is really sickening. Chicago has the highest gas prices in the nation, higher than New York, Honolulu and even the special blends in southern CA. Theres a string of refineries along Cicero Ave toward Midway airport so it aint transportation costs we're getting nailed with.
Back in the '60s while in high school I worked at a filling station for a buck an hour, with gas wars, gas was 18 cents for real gas, 102 octane .Those were the days when we could joy ride all night for 5 bucks put 200 miles on the clock and never leave town. Put $60. in the truck this morning, 15 gallons, nowhere came close to filling it. We the public are getting hosed while the gas man and the city get rich. I don't know how the single parents working for minimum wages are making it.
We need to change our state tagline from "The Land of Lincoln" to "The Land of Rape and Pillage."
Got close to filling up the Cherokee today, but stopped at $62... $127 in two days to put gas in two vehicles. I have pictures I took of gas prices from the Sept. 11th aftermath and I would gladly give my left nut for those prices. To think we complained back then??? If only we knew what was coming...
Whoa! Spent the weekend in MtCarroll. 87 was 3.99 friday night, 4.09 saturday morning and 4.19 by saturday afternoon. Thats at Mobil on 78. While I was gone a whole 2 1/2 days, my 4.19 special in forest park jumped to 4.43. This is sickening and I'm beginning to think some of it is the station owners taking advantage of the frenzy.
$3.99 (cash price) for 87
$4.19 (credit card) for 87
$4.09 Diesel
Highest I saw today was $4.24.
Do you guys have stations doing a different cash price vs. credit in your areas? We have a bunch of stations that do here... I just wish they were on my side of town.
