I loved the .40, but more than once specific caliber I like to shoot frequently. And while the .40 is hardly an expensive caliber it's a good deal more than 9mm, so I decided I wanted a 9mm more than the .40.
The XD was a great gun, I don't think it ever malfunctioned while I had it. I expect the Glock to be just as good, if not better.
And the other reason was that I qualify for Glock's law enforcement purchase program because I'm in the military. So I got a killer deal on it, $469 for a brand new G19 Gen 4 with Trijicon sights. Just couldn't say no!

This is off topic so I apologize but for those interested in purchasing a new Glock I suggest you join the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation.
Glock Sport Shooting Foundation
The cost is $35 for the first year and $25 a year thereafter. Membership gets you the Glock annual magazine as well being able to take a Glock Armourer's course in your area along with various shooting competitions.
But the main benefit of being a member is being able to purchase one new Glock pistol per year at the military/law enforcement price. Also, purchases under this program come with 3 standard magazines instead of the usual 2.
I purchased a brand new Gen 3 Glock 19 last fall for $425! The reduced price more than covers the cost of GSSF membership, plus everyone buys a new Glock every year anyway, right?

I would be up for retrying to get this up again! I know last year Chris and I were really talking about it, but it just kinda fizzled out. I would be up for the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd in October... I will be home that weekend and we could probably do something like this. I'm also shopping for handguns now so a rental place would be great for me, as I can try a bunch of different ones, before buying.
