How was this done???

1966 Ford F100 - Custom Truck's - Truckin' Magazine

How can this guy use Aim drop arms and cut enough coils to reach this stance up front? How would one align it afterward? I'd love to reach this stance with my '66 but ride and good alignment is important to me.

He probably only cut 2 coils off the front springs. for a total of 5 inches of drop. It would be easy to keep a good alignment with only 2 coils cut out of the springs with those I beams.

My 66 Slick is only 3 inchs higher then his and the front supposedly is totaly rebuilt. Or atleast the bushings are all replaced.

So the 3 inch drop beams plus a light trim of the springs wouldn't be to bad.

If you wanna go lower there is always the CV swap, and a if you crave lower Z the front of the truck to go even lower. Plus it will align and not kill tires.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just wondering at what point you would sacrafice ride quality. From what I've read; the Aim kit actually only lowers the front 2"?

It would ride fine provided you use a stiffer shock such as KYB gas a just.

I wish someone would come out with a bolt-on kit that would lower the fron enough to tuck the tires a little. I refuse to do it half assed and bouce all over the road like a cheaply built lowrider.

Mor drop out of the Oakland area has 3 and 4 inch drop beams for us on exchange.

The only problem is its still an I beam. So all them same stuff to deal with now only worse.

The CV swap is as bolt in as it gets.

These trucks aren't brand new caddys here! And Im not sure how you think the ride quality is so great? The only way your going to get better ride quality is by swaping out the front I beams for a crown vic front end. Or you can spend about 5k plus for a brand new frame with full mustang 2 front suspension and a 4 link rear with coil overs all around.

Plus if you use a 4.6 or 5.4 it gets even more bolt in couse you can use there motor mounts.

So all you have to fab is a rear A-arm bracket, and weld the steering tab down. Both very easy if you spend 4 minutes thinking about it.

of course they can! I never said they could. My point is these trucks were build in a time where ride quality really didnt matter in a truck. So upgrading the ride quality in these trucks isnt really that hard. You just need to know what your doing and have some general knowledge of how things work.

And is Mor Drop still around? I havent heard anything about them in years!

If you are replying to me; I never said these old trucks rode great. I just don't want to make mine worse.

The Crown Vic front suspension swap from a 03 and later. The K-member un bolts and is just about as bolt on as it gets.
