The test strips you got are more then likely for testing nitrite levels, which should be 1200 ppm. They have nothing to do with exhaust in the coolant. On the container does it show 3 graphs? which are nitrite, percent glycol, and PH.
I also picked up a combustion leak fluid thingy. Supposed to put some fluid into this tube. Stick one end into bottle neck and the other end needs vacuum on it. Supposed to let the air bubbles run through fluid. If it turns yellow you have headgasket problems. Doesn't say if for gas or diesel. I assume Combustion gases are about the same whether diesel or gas. And diesel has higher no2?
The Wix test strips I use and are sold at NAPA stores are for diesel coolant testing. Besides the PH and glycol you also check the nitrite levels which are very important in diesel engines. The strips you have are probably for gas engine cooling systems.
If you go to Ebay and type in coolant test strips, there is a person selling the 4 pack of Wix fil4105 diesel test strips for $6 delivered. Wix might have discontinued the 4 pack but still sell the 50 pack which is about $30
