So, I was driving my 1998 ford ranger V6 3.0 liter truck through some puddles and i lost power steering and when i opened my hood my belt had come off. I then tried to put on a new belt to make it home but the belt then broke because my power steering pump might have ceased up. I figured my "power steering pump" might have went bad but im not sure. Also if i were to get a new pump how would i install it??
I would appreciate any help i could get!!!
remove pulley with special tool T69L-10300-B
Replace pulley with special tool T91P-3A733-A
You can probably rent those tools from your local rental shop. If not have it done by the shop nearest with the Ford label outside.
Remove hoses
Remove bolts and power steering pump.
Replace power steering pump in the reverse.
Inspect the pulley for paint marks in the web area near the hub. If there are two paint marks discard the pulley. If there is no paint or one paint mark, use a paint pencil to mark the web area of the pulley near the hub.
Thank you,
This should help me alot with my ranger,
would i be able to take my pully off inside my truck with out having to take off the bracket that goes around it??
Yes, the pulley comes off then the bolts holding the PS pump. Hoses of course, but Yeah everything is listed that needs to be done, the bracket doesn't have to come off, I think it holds the AC too.
