Don't lower the truck raise the trailer. Perform an axle flip on the trailer and you'll gain almost 5 inches. Most RV'ers normally flip the axles to allow more clearance anyway.
I thought of that first but my axels on the trailer are already flipped. I am wondering what will happen if I pull the blocks out all together, Will it affect anything else or will it just lower the truck. She rides really high in the back now so if nothing else it would level the truck. Your thoughts!!
My truck is a 2000 F 350 4x4 XLT Lariot, superduty 7.3 turbo extend a cab with 23000 yep thats 23000 origional kilometers on her. Just like a brand new one. Bought her from an old guy who took her to the grocery store. Those stories really do, occassionally happen.
WOW! Super nice truck! We need to see some pictures.
Back to the issue...you can change to F250 rear blocks not sure I would would run it without any blocks you might find the rear sagging after you get the trailer attached. Have you had the trailer attached? How much does it drop with the trailer on the hitch? Is this where your 5" calculation is coming from?
I have the hitch in the truck now and when hooked up she doesn't sag a bit. The problem is the trailer is on a very sharp angle. I have the hitch up as far as it will go on the trailer and that doesn't help so the only way I can think of is to lower the truck. I have heard of this before and I know that if back then,2000, you ordered a truck for towing fifth wheels they came lower but I don't know what they did at the factory to make it lower. I don't want to start tearing things out from under the truck not knowing what the end results will be.
She is a real pretty truck. Black with the gold bottom. He had a sun visor put on her and running boards. The old guy I got her from is now 83 so you know she wasn't abused. He told me he bought her cause is wife didn't want him to...God bless her.
Well...let's see what some of the other guys here think, but I don't think it would hurt anything if you pulled the rear block out, that would give you 4 inches. Keep us updated.
Below is a TSB 07-7-2 on this for the 05 - 08 trucks...should be along the same lines for your like new older truck as well. If you can get a copy of the original TSB it will have the Ford part numbers for the blocks/ubolts based on wheel base and the same to select the correct shock.
