Replace gas tank with smaller one

I have a 1997 F250 with what i believe to be a 30 in it which leaks.. I was wondering if the smaller ( i think 24 gal.) tank will fit and hook up without any problems?

Probably would work but why wouldn't you just find a used 30 gal tank?

I would just replace it with an identical tank and be done with it.

Around here a used one would be rotted out just the same.

The reason i wanted to go with the smaller tank was because it would have been almost half the price of the original 30 gal. tank. Since posting my question on here , i was able to find an original sized one for $154. Prior to posting i was looking at $180 for a 24 gal. and $350 for the 30gal. I was trying to save some money.
