No cranking

I recently got an 86 F-150 4.9 4 speed and can not get it to crank the solenoid is just clicking. I have been searching through similar threads but am still confused. I have lights, cab lights, and blower motor is working also. When I crank the lights dim but don't go out. The negative cable is getting hot so loose ground or connection? The battery I'm using to get it going has 700 CCA is this too many? Im looking at all the cables now to see if any are corroded and cleaning all the grounds to see if that works. Any tests I can do to determine whats going on?

Thanks, Chris

That would randomly happen to my truck, sometimes it would start; sometimes it would just click. You had to mess with the battery cables to get it to start. Only the positive cable was replaced but that fixed it.

I didn't try the lights but the Power Windows still worked when this happened.

The threads I was reading through were saying that the lights working indicates the main fusable link is working so I'm thinking bad ground or bad cable just trying to narrow it down
