Having 4wd trouble. esof 1997 f150. Tested tranfer case shift motor: No rotation when selecting 4wd. Pulled motor and works in both directions with 12volts across orange and yellow wires. Found no power in shift motor harness when selecting 4wd. Pulled the transfer case shift relay module and tested it: Both halves of the relay will click but only one tests ok for continuity. The failed one is the counter clockwise relay side (L2H on schematic). I ordered a new relay from mouser today for $5 to solder in.
I am curious though why I don't hear any clicking when the module is in the truck. It is like the GEM is not trying to ground it out. I do not have a scanner to test GEM, but do not have any other issues with truck.
I am still concerned about the 'contact plates' in the shift motor and if they are giving the GEM false info. Is there a good way to test them?
I have also tested the fuses and the resistance of the 4wd mode selector switch. Also checked wires from relay to GEM and mode switch to GEM.
