I just purchased a "new" 1995 f150 4x4 and I was wanting to put some bigger shoes on her. Right now she is sportin' some 235x75x15's on the stock alcoa's. I was hoping someone could offer a suggestion on some 31x10.50's for me? I am wanting a fairly agressive a/t or lighter duty m/t. This truck is my DD and it sees gravel roads every day of its life. I take it mudding when the weather permits and I love playing in the snow with my trucks. BFG a/t's are outta the question, I just don't like the way the tread looks on them, I don't think it looks agressive enough. So if anyone has any good experience with anything I would love to hear it! I was thinking about a set of medalist radial sport kings, but am weary of the cheap price tag. I am expecting to spend around $130-$160 apiece, or if you have found something cheaper that works good let me know! I am all for saving money, but tires is not always the place to do it!
I noticed the similarities too, but the BFG's have 5 (i think) rows, while the sport kings have less, making them spread farther out (more space between lugs). I don't think they are agressive enough for what I am wanting anyways. How have you liked your tires so far? do you do any offroading?
So far I like them. They are not too noisy on the highway and have good traction in the snow/ice.
Have about 1000 miles on them so far.
Haven't done any off roading, it's a little frozen at the moment. We'll see how they do in the dirt once it thaws out in the spring.
Highway noise is the LAST thing on my mind when buying tires. Hell I even run M/T's on my 1999 2wd I am looking for something with exceptional traction in wet conditions (snow, and mud). I know it is hard to find a tire with both capabilities, but it can be done, to an extent. As I said, I drive gravel roads every day, with about 5 miles of highway, so I really am not concerned at all with how "loud" they are, just how functional they are.
